Declaration Reading, Band's Debut, Donor Sought This Week

Also in store: Barn Theatre auditions and July Fourth closings.

Bone Marrow Donor Drive: A community effort is under way to find a bone marrow donor match for Danny Dotterweich, a Montville Township resident who recently was diagnosed with plasma cell leukemia. Delete Blood Cancer DKMS and family and friends of Dotterweich are organizing a bone marrow donor drive for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Towaco Firehouse. The goal of the drive is to register as many potential bone marrow donors as possible, who could help save Dotterweich and other patients. Organizers also are accepting donations to cover the cost of registering new donors. Look for a story with more information about the drive.

Local Band's Professional Debut: On Thursday, the hot new sounds of Montville band Take A Chance will open an evening of music at the fifth annual Lincoln Park 4th of July Spectacular and Fireworks. The popular event will mark the middle school musicians' professional debut.

Declaration Reading: The Montville Township Historical Society will mark the Fourth of July with a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Henry Doremus House, 490 Main Road.

July Fourth Closings: The Montville Township Public Library and municipal offices are closed Thursday. By the way, we're planning to post some photos from Montville's "awesome" fireworks display that was held on Saturday. Have any to share? Email jacob.remaly@patch.com

Open Auditions: The Barn Theatre in Montville plans to kick off its 86th Season by holding open auditions for an upcoming production of "Veronica's Room," a drama by Ira Levin with direction by Omar Kozarsky. Auditions are 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday, July 8. All roles are available and newcomers are especially welcomed. See more information in the announcement.
