Montville Girls Volleyball Heads to County Final for First Time

Mustangs will play West Morris Mendham High School in the county championships on Saturday.

The girls volleyball made history after defeating last year’s county champs, West Morris Central High School two weeks ago and making it into the semifinals, a first in Mustang history.

This past Saturday, they defeated Morristown High School in the semifinals and will continue into unprecedented territory this weekend: the finals of the Morris County Championship against West Morris Mendham High School.

"This team is very excited about this upcoming game on Saturday," said Coach Pat Lyons. "They have been preparing for a game like this for a very long time and we are looking forward to seeing Mendham again.  Mendham gave us our first loss this season."

Patch recently interviewed a few of the seniors on the team and they said that the energy of the crowd helped as well and they had “never seen every seat taken up.” So go and root on the Mustangs at the finals at Roxbury HS at 7 p.m. this Saturday. If you're going grab a photo during the game and text it and a score update over to Patch at kim@patch.com or 845 891 6816.
