Some in Montville Find They're Being 'Eaten Alive' by Mosquitoes

Morris County Mosquito Extermination Commission has been spraying in the township.

Using truck-mounted and backpack sprayers along Montville Township streets and woods, the Morris County Mosquito Extermination Commission has been working to control the mosquito population in the township and other municipalities along the Passaic River.

The commission said it was spraying numerous Montville Township streets in early July and was scheduled to hit Bellows Lane and White Hall Road in the past two weeks.

The commission also brought its traveling display of mosquito information to the township municipal building this month.

The good news? While there may be more of them compared to last summer, they're not carrying West Nile virus, according to the Daily Record.

The bad news: there's more of them. In late June, Montville residents said the mosquitoes were out of control.

"I can't walk into my front yard or back yard without being attacked," Lynn Borteck wrote.

Janice Aibel said it's a problem every year, but this summer "is the worst."

"We are being eaten alive," she said. "This is definitely a town problem!"
