Trace History of Passaic River at Montville Library

Local historian Phil Jaeger will lead the program.

Calling all history buffs, come out to the Montville Library on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to learn about the history of the Passaic River.

“The Passaic River: 81 Miles of History” will be presented by local historian and retired educator Phil Jaeger, said Pam O’Gorman, Adult Program Coordinator.

O'Gorman added that Jaeger will trace "the path and history of the Passaic River from its source in Mendham to the Newark Bay" through seven counties.

The history of the structures will be examined as well as the activities that took place during the last century. Learn about the early mills, Glacial Lake Passaic, the first successful test of a submarine, the country's first industrial city, and more, according to the library's Patch event listing.

Registration is suggested. Contact the library at 90 Horseneck Road (973) 402-0900 x227 for more information.
