Pathways for Exceptional Children is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from a foundation formed by a coalition of Phish fans, the Mockingbird Foundation announced. Program that began for children with disabilities now teaches all children about including others and leadership.

Pathways will be celebrating its decade anniversary on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the back parking lot of Montville Township High School with special performances from several kids involved in the program, carnival-type activities and more. Melinda Jennis, president of Pathways, said she started the organization because of her personal experiences with her multiply disabled son. "I had a son with multiple disabilities and there was no place for him to go or things for him to do at all," Jennis said. She organized a group of parents who began developing …

Montville's former football coach teamed up with Pathways for Exceptional Children to start a football program that paired high school athletes with children who have disabilities.
A dozen children and young adults with disabilities took part in a new five-week football program held at Montville Township High School this fall that paired them with high school student buddies, mostly members of the football team. They practiced passing, punting and receiving, all under the direction of Gerry Gallagher, a high school physical education teacher and former college and high school football coach who retired as Montville's head coach last year. Gallagher teamed up this fall with Pathways for Exceptional Children to start a football program that paired high school athletes with children who have disabilities. Gallagher said he …
