The students in the Pathways for Exceptional Children Rock Band will showcase a year's worth of work during a community concert on April 27. The concert will be held in the Montville Township High School auditorium from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Pathways for Exceptional Children is a Montville-based program that promotes inclusion of children of all abilities in activities and has been inspiring kids for more than 10 years. "The Pathways rock band is made up of children both with and without disabilities and has worked for over a year to put on this concert that celebrates showing how every child can make a difference," Pathways President Melinda Jennis said. Use of the Edmunds Little House on Passaic Valley Road will be administered by the Montville Township Recreation Department under a plan approved by the Township Committee on Tuesday. Three groups other than the Recreation Department—Montville Police Explorers, Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry and Pathways for Exceptional Children—expressed interested in using the two-room house for offices or storage. Those groups could coordinate with the recreation department to use the building. Annual race saw a record number of attendees.
Despite the heat and hills, a record number of participants ran in the third annual Pathways 5K on Saturday, June 26 at the Montville Township Public Library, pounding the pavement for the inclusion of disabled kids. Jared Hanko, from Montville, finished first out of 312 with a time of 16:53. Joy Brnic from Boonton was the first female finisher, 11th overall, with 19:42. "It was great," John Arminio, one of the event organizers, said. "We had a little logistical problem in the beginning, the scoring company arrived late, but all in all it went well."
