Turkeys 4U is a corporation started in 2001 by a 14-year-old Kinnelon High School freshman, Blake Wheale, who wanted to raise money to provide turkeys for those who could not afford them for the Thanksgiving holiday. San Gennaro Fest Brings Italian Heritage to Montville

Four-day festival combines fun with fundraising.

Being Italian means more to many than the figures seen on the television lately. To some, being Italian is about heritage and family and to others, it is cultural. Montville UNICO will be hosting the four-day event, which began Thursday, behind the Montville Township Public Library, bringing carnival rides, Italian food and games to the community in celebration of the Patron Saint of Naples. Proceeds from ticket sales, rides and earned through games will help support the organization which, in turn, supports children and neighbors in need through educational …

Montville UNICO sponsoring first four-day San Gennaro feast in September.

Montville UNICO is bringing the sounds and flavors of Italy to Montville with a four-day San Gennaro feast this month. The feast and festival is being held Sept. 13-16 at the field behind the Montville Township Public Library. It will feature carnival rides, Italian music, Italian food and more, according to Gene Maddalena, a Montville UNICO member and co-chair of the event. The civic organization offers scholarships and grants to residents of Montville and neighboring communities. UNICO also helps provide service to families in need, including donating more than 1,200 turkeys to families …
