Local students assisting to leverage Montville Township Public Library's website, social media reach.
The Montville Township Public Library is working on revamping its website and local students have chipped in their time and knowledge to help. Currently, the students are working on choosing a content management platform that would allow the library to easily update the site frequently and change content. The students are also helping to develop ways for the library to more effectively use its Facebook page. As the students are taking their time to choose the best options for the content management system, Director Allan Kleiman asked the Montville Township Public Library Board of Trustees to consider temporarily paying a person to update the website in the meantime. Don Kostka said he has been proud to serve with others concerned with making 'a difference in Montville.'
In the past five years he has been serving on the Montville Township Public Library Board of Trustees, Don Kostka said he has been most proud to see the way trustees have come together to achieve fiscal responsibility. "Tonight is the last night and I'm just happy that I was part of a group of nine that made a difference in Montville," Kostka said Monday night before his final board meeting as a trustee. Monday's meeting was the last of the year for the trustees, with new appointments becoming effective in 2013. Kostka, a commiteeman on the Montville Township Committee, was re-elected to a second term on that governing body in November. Director said advisory committee is being formed.
The Montville Township Library is hoping to bring new programs to library patrons in the near future and is forming an advisory committee to examine which programs the library should host. Shashi Jain, a 64-year-old Montville resident who has lived in the township since 1981, shared some of her requests for programs and services that she felt the library should offer during Monday night's Montville Township Library Board of Trustees meeting. Jain said the library is the center of the community and, as such, she felt bussing should be available to and from the library. She also said she has visited several surrounding libraries and taken a close look at what they have to offer so that she could come back to the board with suggestions. She …
