MTHS Outperforms More than Half of NJ Schools in College, Career Readiness

School met 100 percent of performance target for graduation rate according to new data released by state Department of Education.

Montville Township High School has been ranked as having a "high" level of students graduating with college and career readiness when compared to other schools in the state according to new information released Wednesday by the New Jersey Department of Education. Data was released on the 2011-12 school year. The new NJ School Performance Reports not only compare districts and schools to others in the state, but also to "peer" districts with students of similar demographic characteristics, such as the percentage of students who are in special education programs, limited English proficiency programs or who qualify for free or reduced lunch. American Girl Doll Fundraiser Hopes to Inspire Montville Youth

More than 300 moms and girls will bring dolls to cafe event at MTHS Saturday.

The Montville Township High School Class of 2015 will be hosting an American Girl Doll cafe fundraiser on Saturday to raise money and mingle with younger girls in the community. More than 300 moms and girls will bring their American Girl dolls to the event, which will have more than 50 student-volunteers helping out. "The event will include lunch for moms, girls and dolls (complete with doll-sized chairs and food), a doll hair salon, crafts and a historical doll section," Kim Deamer, the Class of 2015 advisor, said. "Not only is this a great fundraiser, but also an incredible opportunity for the high school girls to give back to the community and provide the elementary school girls positive teen role models." MTHS Students Perform 'The Wedding Singer'

Students sang and danced during three performances last week.

Montville Township High School Drama Club students performed The Wedding Singer on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last weekend. 'The Wedding Singer' to be Presented by MTHS Drama Club

Spring musical to debut Thursday.

The Montville Township High School Drama Club will perform "The Wedding Singer" on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on each night in the Robert O. Stafford Auditorium. The main character, Robbie Hart, will be played by Alex Dechino while the lead female role of Julia Sullivan will be played by Salena Wilson. A full cast list is available on the drama club's website. Tickets are currently on sale.

Volleyball Marathon Spikes Fun for Charitable Cause

Montville Township High School Key Club raises money for 'Eliminate Project' during 32nd annual event.

The Montville Township High School Key Club hosted the 32nd annual Volleyball Marathon. Teams from throughout Morris County participate in the event to raise money for a particular cause. This year's cause is the "Eliminate Project," an effort of Kiwanis International and UNICEF to research and cure neonatal and maternal tetanus. Have photos you want to share from the event? Montville Grad to Teach English in War-Torn Bosnia

Lexi Hartley and four of her peers will spend four weeks educating Bosnian youth.

Montville native Lexi Hartley is embarking on a journey this summer that few get the chance to experience and while she will surely learn a great deal from the opportunity, her primary focus is on teaching others. Hartley, a 2011 Montville Township High School graduate, will travel to Sarajevo, in Bosnia-Herzegovinia, this summer to help run a summer camp teaching English and non-violent communications. While she is still in America, the College of William and Mary sophomore is hoping to spread awareness about her project, which she is teaming up with four of her peers on, and solicit donations. Leah Wis and Cassandra Harasts were selected to be athletes of the year by USA Track and Field for 2012. Wis won Youth Division Athlete of the Year for body of work. She was first in New Jersey in each of the following: High Jump (state record), Triple Jump, Discus, and Javelin. Then a few weeks later at the University of Delaware at the regional championship, Wis finished first in Discus, second in Triple Jump, third in the High Jump and fifth in the Javelin. Relay for Life Kicks Off With Montville Students

Student committee initiates 2013 festivities with event to raise money and awareness for cancer.

Montville students got a head start on this year's local Relay for Life gathering by hosting a kickoff event on Valentine's Day. A student committee made up of highschoolers from Montville Township High School prepared a video to emphasize the event's cause, spreading awareness and raising money to fight cancer. More than 200 students came together to learn about Relay for Life and the upcoming run/walk. Joan Richmond, a member of the Montville Relay for Life Committee and current patient battling Stage 4 Cancer, gave a speech. This year's Montville Relay for Life event will be held June 7 at Camp Dawson.

Jean Collection Drive Has Montville Students Helping the Homeless

Students collect more than 200 pairs of jeans through effort.

A group of Montville Township High School students came together to collect jeans for homeless people. More than 200 pairs of jeans were collected and will be donated to a local shelter.
