'Little House' Will Get New Roof Saturday

Volunteers to return to Passaic Valley Road site to continue renovations for local groups' new home.

Volunteers are continuing to put the finishing touches on renovations to a Passaic Valley Road property known as the "Little House" so that three local groups can move in and make the house a home. Once completed, the house will be used by the Montville Township Recreation Department, the Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry and the Montville Police Explorers program. Currently, the food pantry is using space at the Montville United Methodist Church but does not have enough room for storage and the Explorers are using the police station for training, although coordinator Frank Cooney said it would be better to be out of officers' way in a separate facility. Police Explorers to Host Comedy Fundraiser

Money raised will support Montville Police Explorers program.

The Montville Police Explorers will be hosting a comedy show fundraiser next week to benefit the program. The dinner and comedy show will feature Johnnie O, opening for Otto and George, and will be held at the Lake Valhalla Club on Sept. 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Only 200 tickets will be sold for $60 each and tables will seat ten. Open bar is included in the cost of the ticket. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by check made out to Montville Police Explorers, 360 Main Road, Montville, NJ 07054, attn: Frank Cooney. Man Seeks Winner of Unclaimed Rutgers Tix

To support the Police Explorers, Gary Lewis donated two tickets to the Rutgers football game versus Army—but no one ever claimed them.

To support the Montville Police Explorers Tricky Tray fundraiser last spring, township resident Gary Lewis donated two of his tickets to the Nov. 12 Rutgers University football game versus Army at Yankee Stadium. An attendee won the tickets, but never claimed them. Lewis is hoping the winner will remember the prize and step up. "The raffle tickets were drawn and somebody won the tickets," Lewis said. "I was at the dinner. Trouble is, no one ever returned the redemption certificate to me for the tickets they won, which are sitting on my desk." Lewis, who is vice-chairman of the Montville Planning Board, said he guesses the winner was from Montville or attending the fundraiser with someone from town.
