Jake Remaly makes a comeback in Montville.
He's baaaaack. A year ago, Patch Editor Jake Remaly handed over the reigns to Montville Patch to me, giving me the opportunity to explore, learn and write about your community. Now, as I embark upon a new role with Patch, I'm giving them back to Jake. Much like he welcomed me to the site, I'm now re-welcoming him. Jake's been a Patcher since August 2011 when he started with the company as editor of Montville Patch. Last March, he moved over to Madison Patch, which he will continue to manage in addition to Montville. "Jake once hiked up Pyramid Mountain to Tripod Rock and has the pictures to prove it," according to his bio. I won't be going far though and you'll likely see my name still on the site often (plus I live in town so don't be …

Also, high school will celebrate Spirit Week.
During the Montville Township Committee meeting this week, committee members are expected to resume discussion on the 2013 municipal budget. Budget planning has been underway for months and at the last township committee meeting on March 12, Township Administrator Victor Canning presented two options, one of which would bring the tax increase to 3.87 percent but utilize $275,000 from the Water Utility fund balance. "We've reached pretty much the wall and there's not much room to move," Canning told the committee before recommending this option and explaining that taking money from the utility fund balance is common practice elsewhere in New Jersey. But committee members were not entirely in favor of pulling $275,000 from the utility fund, …
