Student-Teacher Fashion Show a Success for MEF

Over $18,000 raised through event.

The Montville Education Foundation (MEF) had its bi-annual Fall Fashion Show Family Extravaganza on November 18, 2012 at the East Hanover Manor. The afternoon kicked off with an amazing performance by Montville Township High School’s own School of Rock, originally funded by the MEF six years ago!   Led by music teacher, Anthony Sia, the band had the capacity crowd on its feet. Featuring music from the 70’s through today, it was great to see the SOR perform. Woodmont Classroom to Get Dry Erase Makeover

Teacher receives grant for creative thinking.

The Montville Educational Foundation (MEF), recently presented a grant to Carolyn Wyks, second grade teacher at Woodmont Elementary School.  The grant was issued to Wyks for her innovative and creative thinking. "The funding will be used to promote brainstorming and idea organization by transforming each student’s work area into a blank slate. This would be accomplished with IdeaPaint and associated supplies," Wyks said. "IdeaPaint is a dry erase paint that is applied to any smooth surface (desks, walls, tables) transforming work space into creative spaces. It is not just paint. It serves as a magic wand. Valley View Receives iPad Grant

Third, fourth and fifth graders to use iPads.

Under the direction of Reading Specialist Sheila Frye and fourth-grade teachers Sandy Minder and Cortney Stephenson (not pictured), Valley View School in Montville has received an iPad grant from the Montville Educational Foundation (MEF). Students in third, fourth, and fifth grade will use the iPads in all curricular areas to enhance student performance and academic engagement. “It’s always a pleasure to work with our teachers who choose to utilize out-of-the-box thinking to add that something extra to help educate our children,” MEF President Michael Abramson said.  For more information about the MEF, visit www.MEFGrants.com.
