Researchers continue to work on treatments and cure for muscular disease.
When Adam Foye and his parents learned researchers would be devoting time and energy strictly to identifying the muscular disease afflicting the 11-year-old, they were thrilled. And when those researchers were able to put a name to the gene mutation triggering the disease, they were ecstatic. Now, as researchers work to develop treatments and a potential cure for Foye's form of Centronuclear Myopathy, Sarah Foye, Foye's mother, said she is hoping to reach out to other families who are enduring similar journeys. "My son was diagnosed with muscle weakness shortly after he was born," Sarah Foye said. When Foye was a baby, his mother said he was not meeting his muscle milestones. Cedar Hill "Beach Day," held this past Monday, raised more than $617, allowing the school to give a check for $88.25 to each of the seven families affected by Hurricane Sandy that the Cedar Hill community is supporting. The students and staff paid $1 to wear sunglasses, bring in a beach towel or dress "beachy." Through the grade level donations, the school packed seven large bags full of toothbrushes, soaps, shampoos, towels, slippers, construction paper, glue sticks, brushes and combs, hand lotions and love. The donations will be delivered shortly to Seaside Heights.

The Montville 12U Travel Baseball Team has been seen around town "canning" for their trip to Cooperstown, NY. This 12U team has to do some extensive fundraising to cut some of the costs for each one of them to play in the weeklong tournament. However, on Nov. 17, when they were scheduled to do their first "canning" at Shop Rite of Parsippany, they decided to collect their donations for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Mayor, committee members send 'thank you' package to community leaders for donating food following Superstorm Sandy.

Those are just some of the items being packed inside a brown box and shipped to Montville, Conn. as part of a "thank you" package for officials in gratitude for their communitty's donations to Montville, N.J., following Superstorm Sandy. Montville Patch (Connecticut) Editor Ellyn Santiago placed a donation bin at her town's municipal building soliciting food, cleaning supplies and other items. Three new Montville Township police officers were sworn in Tuesday.
The Montville Township municipal building meeting room was filled with police presence Tuesday night, but no one was getting arrested. Five police officers were promoted and sworn in to their new ranks as Montville Township Police Chief Richard Cook said five officers will be retiring at the end of December. "We currently have five officers retiring at the end of the year. They consist of two captains, two lieutenants and one patrolman," Cook said. "In order to prepare for this, the township has hired four new officers this year." Of the four new officers, Cook said one is already on the road while the other three are planning to graduate from the police academy on Thursday.
