Creative Studio Will Help 'Exceptional' Children Express Themselves

Local organization receives $35K grant to expand programs in new space.

Participants in the Pathways for Exceptional Children programs will soon have a new space to let their creativity grow after the organization recently received a grant to purchase space for a creative studio. Pathways has the former Montville Township Board of Education offices in mind for the studio space, although nothing has been finalized yet. Founder Melinda Jennis said she thinks the studio should be open by the end of the month, at which point a grand opening will be held. Mayor Plans to 'Give It The Best' During Final Year on Committee

Tim Braden was named Montville Patch's Person of the Year.

Tim Braden will be serving his final year on the township committee in 2013, as he has said he does not plan to seek re-election. "Six years, for me, is the right number. Other people have their right numbers, but that is... 15 percent of my life," the 53-year-old mayor of Montville said. Braden was recommended by commenters to be named Montville Patch's Person of the Year for 2012. He moved to the township in 1973 after growing up in Lyndhurst and has one daughter, a Montville Township High School sophomore, currently in the school system. While Braden already knows he does not plan to continue to serve on the committee next year, he said he has been proud of the work he and his fellow committee members have been able to accomplish …

New Year's Resolutions: How to Improve Montville in 2013

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Montville, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money. As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Montville to make it an even better place to live? Should the township have more community gardens? Create more recreational opportunities? Would you like to see more events at the Montville Dog Park or more festivals like this year's San Gennaro Feast? What is on your Montville wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013? Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!
