With Thanksgiving almost here, it seems almost fitting that Montville residents gave thanks to the township for helping them celebrate Halloween this year. For the second year in a row, Halloween was the holiday that almost was not, as Superstorm Sandy's damaged created unsafe road conditions for trick-or-treaters to go door-to-door. Gov. Chris Christie officially changed the celebration date of the holiday to Nov. 5, but Montville officials waited longer to delcare when it would be safe enough for Halloween festivities to be held. Ultimately, the township decided to host a "Scare, Share and Care" event where children were able to trick-or-treat at vehicle trunks in a parking lot and residents were able to make donations to Sandy victims. …
