VIDEO: Return of GardenSK8

A montage of flooding, rebuilding and—finally—skating at an indoor skate park in Pine Brook.

GardenSK8, an indoor skate park in Pine Brook, has created a video celebrating its reopening and paying tribute to those who supported the park after it flooded following Tropical Storm Irene. A fundraising art show at the park was held in November after being postponed by a freak October snow storm. A link to the video and the following message was posted on GardenSK8's Facebook page: Here is a tribute to all of you who gave selflessly to help us get back to being an art gallery, skatepark, music venue, movie set, hang out and a safe place to have fun regardless of age. Without your help we would have never made it to this point. Have a happy and healthy holiday. -NEVER QUIT

GardenSK8 Set for Graffiti Art Show—Again

Event to reopen the skate park after Hurricane Irene flooding scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday after being postponed by freak snow storm.

"All you could do at that point is laugh," said Schwartz, a Towaco resident. The event starts at 6 p.m. Saturday and is expected to draw hundreds of …

GardenSK8 Turns to Art to Rebuild After Flood

The indoor skate park on Changebridge Road was flooded with 2 feet of water after Hurricane Irene.

A welcome sound came from the Pirate Bowl at GardenSK8 indoor skate park on Saturday after weeks of quiet in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene—the sound of a skateboarder riding in it. The skate park on Changebridge Road in the Pine Brook section of the township was flooded with 2 feet of water after the storm. The flood damaged the sheetrock walls, and murals by leading graffiti artists that adorned the walls had to be ripped down. Metal transition strips rusted. The retail shop was dismantled entirely. Owner Todd Schwartz had to cancel camp sessions and refund tuition. So, while Schwartz, a Towaco resident, said it was good to hear his son, Bennet "Lil B" Schwartz, a 9-year-old competitive skateboarder, riding in the Pirate Bowl over the …
