Elementary Enrollment Could Affect Grade Sections

District works to conform to policy that calls for 23 or fewer students per class.

The Montville Township school district is looking to alter the grade sections available at three of its five elementary schools for the 2012-13 school year based on projected enrollment, Superintendent Dr. Fried announced during the board of education meeting Tuesday. Applying the board’s policy of capping individual classrooms at 23 students for grades K-3, Fried discussed plans for the district to change the grade sections at William Mason Elementary School, Cedar Hill Elementary School and Hilldale Elementary School. Royal Sendoff: Cedar Hill Says Goodbye to Prince

Golden retriever to continue training with seeing eye program.

He has great table manners, always lends a listening ear and never touches people without permission. His good behavior has landed him invitations to places most men are not allowed, including bridal and baby showers. Sure, he may have four legs, but that fact aside, 14-month-old Golden Retriever Prince lives up to his name. Prince may not be actual royalty but he has been treated as such for the past year that he has been coming to school at Cedar Hill, Woodmont and Montville Township High Schools. Prince has been trained in the puppy program for The Seeing Eye, Inc. and on Wednesday, during an emotional outdoor assembly, students, faculty members and friends said goodbye to Prince and wished him well as he moves on to the next phase of …

Students to share business plans, original products.

Fourth and fifth grade Cedar Hill Elementary School students began preparing business plans Friday for the school's annual TREP$ Marketplace, where the students will sell original products they developed on April 21. TREP$ is a program that began when two certified West Milford teachers' sons had an idea to sell hand-stamped wrapping paper at a school event and learned lessons about business through the process. The TREP$ program has been introduced to schools statewide, with students working for weeks on their individual plans and then presenting the plans and their products during the marketplace event. The Cedar Hill students will work on their projects for six weeks during after school workshops, like Friday's, receiving guidance on …
