Montville Students Named Athletes of the Year

Track runners fought obstacles including high temperatures to reach milestones in sport.

Leah Wis and Cassandra Harasts were selected to be athletes of the year by USA Track and Field for 2012. Wis won Youth Division Athlete of the Year for body of work. She was first in New Jersey in each of the following: High Jump (state record), Triple Jump, Discus, and Javelin. Then a few weeks later at the University of Delaware at the regional championship, Wis finished first in Discus, second in Triple Jump, third in the High Jump and fifth in the Javelin.
