MTHS Grad Schwartz Headed for White Sox
'I felt ready to take the next step.'
On the eve of Major League Baseball's first-year player draft, Mike Schwartz was sitting in his parents' house in Lutz, Fla. with his family. The former Montville High School third-baseman waited for his name to be called. When that time finally came, Schwartz said, it was a huge relief. "It felt really good," he said. "I felt ready to take the next step, and then I heard my name, and it felt pretty cool." Schwartz, 23, was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round of the draft after his senior year at the University of Tampa. He graduated from Monvtille High School in 2005 and played for the team from 2002-2005. Schwartz made several all-county and all-state teams while playing at Montville.
