Wednesday is July 11, or 7/11 depending on how you write it. Why is that significant? Because it's been really hot, it's summer, and it's 7-Eleven Day. Yes, that means free Slurpees for all! From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., you can get a 7.11 ounce Slurpee, free of charge, at participating locations. Help celebrate 85 years of the frosty treat by enjoying one yourself. The chain also has a link to a free printable birthday hat on its Facebook page that you can use to celebrate the anniversary. Residents of Montville can head to the location on Changebridge Road for their Slurpee fix. Chain convenient store 7-Eleven is celebrating its birthday on May 23 by offering free 7.11 oz. Slurpees to customers. For those who do not know, a Slurpee is an icy beverage that comes in a variety of fruit flavors and Coca-Cola brand flavors. Montville's 7-Eleven is located at 269 Changebridge Road in Pine Brook.

Value of stolen treat was $1.70, police said.
A Pompton Plains woman was arrested on charges of theft Friday after police said she stole a cupcake valued at $1.70 from the 7-Eleven convenience store on Changebridge Road in Pine Brook. Police responded to a report of shoplifting at 7-Eleven at 10:20 a.m. where they watched surveillance video of Jenna Matthews, 19, allegedly placing the cupcake package in her right pants pocket. Police said Matthews, who was seen in the video accompanied by a white male, was then was seen paying for other items at the counter, but not the cupcake. Matthews, a student at the Christine Valmy beauty school, was arrested at Christine Valmy. The male was not arrested. Also from the Montville Township Police Department
