Relay for Life Shines Light on Cancer Awareness

Montville High hosts annual event that brings comfort, remembrance and hope.

People of all ages participated in the 2012 Relay for Life at Friday. The annual, all-night fundraising event celebrates the lives of those who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost and brings awareness and hope for a cure.

The football field was filled with tents, events, music and games. People walked around the track throughout the night. Candles placed in bags identified with names of individuals touched by cancer lined the edge of the track. A moving ceremony was held in the darkness, lit only by luminaria, followed by a lap in silence.

The event was organized by volunteers, including members of Montville Kiwanis, Police Explorers and Key Club.
