Don't Forget Bug Spray, Patience for Fireworks Show

Share your tips for taking in the display on Saturday.

Be ready for mosquitoes and traffic jams when you take in Montville Township's fireworks display on Saturday.

Those were two of the tips we heard when we asked for pointers on the Montville Patch Facebook page this week.

"Bug spray," David Leibowitz said. "The mosquitoes are on the hunt after the sun goes down."

And don't expect to be able to drive home right after the finale.

"Don't all leave at once!" Donna Marzigliano advised. "The exits get all clogged up with traffic. Either leave a few minutes before the show ends, or plan on staying an extra half hour or so."

The show is scheduled to start at dusk, around 9:30 p.m., at Montville Township High School and Community Park.

Rain date is Sunday. Parking is $5, with proceeds to benefit the Montville Baseball & Softball Association and the Montville Police Explorers.

Traditionally a three-day event, Montville's Independence Day celebration was limited to the fireworks this year because of the status of the Montville Township 4th of July Committee Inc.—though the fireworks should be as impressive as ever. Full festivities are expected to return next year.
