O'Reilly Leads Montville Past Vernon

Boys basketball falls.

Katie O'Reilly scored 20 points to help lead the Montville girls basketball team to a come-from-behind win in the Mustangs’ season-opener against Vernon on Friday night in Montville.

Despite trailing 36-30 heading into the fourth quarter, O’Reilly and Heidi Avrov combined for 15 points, helping Montville outscore Vernon 22-7 in the final frame to fuel the Mustangs to their first win of the season.

Nate Buckler’s 14 points helped lead the Montville boys basketball team past Vernon, 57-35, on Friday night in Montville, according to NJ.com.

Tom Preztak netted 13 points in the Mustang’s season-opener, helping Montville to a blowout win and a 1-0 start to the 2011-12 season.

Ice Hockey Earns Tie

A Kevin Thorton goal with 7:56 remaining in the third quarter helped the Montville ice hockey team escape with a 6-6 tie with Princeton on Friday, according to NJ.com. With the draw, Montville’s record moves to 3-1-1 in 2011.  

Girls Swimming Falls

The Montville girls swim team fell to Mountain Lakes 124-44 on Friday, according to NJ.com. With the loss, Montville sits at 2-3 on the season.
