Lake Valhalla Is Setting for Tri-Harder Triathlon

Second annual fitness event for kids ages 4 to 14 coming this month.

A triathlon experience geared for children ages 4 to 14 is coming to Lake Valhalla in Montville Township this month.

The second annual Tri-Harder Triathlon is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20, rain or shine.

The deadline to register is Friday, July 12.

The Montville Township Parks & Recreation Department holds the event in cooperation with the Lake Valhalla Board of Directors, the Montville Township Police Department and volunteers to promote "fun and fitness," according to the rec department.

Participants will swim, bike and run in assigned areas at the Lake Valhalla Club property. Distances and locations are based on age—ranging from a 25-yard swim, half-mile bike ride, and quarter-mile run for the 4-6 age group to a 200-yard swim, 2-mile bike ride, and 1-mile run for the 12-14 age group.

All children receive participation medals. No individual awards are given to the top finishers.
