Hike: Tripod Rock Mystery - for Young Professionals

On this early spring morning we are venturing out to investigate one of New Jersey’s mysteries, the Tripod Rock.  Weird NJ reports that there are theories that this rock was purposefully balanced by prehistoric humans while others give all the credit to glacial movement.  Read up here on what to watch out for then grab your boots and reusable water bottle and meet us for a springtime romp to the rock.

Specs:
The hike is classified as moderate- some uphill and downhill parts.
The hike is about 4 miles long and will take 2 to 2.5 hours.

Member Cost:
$5 for the first 5 to buy a ticket online
$10 for the next 6-25 to buy a ticket online
$20 at the door

Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door

Sweeper:
If the group size is larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper.

Hike Leader:
Dave will be leading this hike.
He not be waiting for late comers; arrive on time.


What to bring:
Hiking boots and 2 liters of water are required.
If cold, please dress in layers that are not made out of cotton.
Consider bringing a snack as well if you may get hungry while hiking.

Inclement Weather:
Heavy precipitation (rain or snow) will cancel this hike. Also, the forecasted high for the day will have to be above 32 degrees and no standing snow cover on the ground. Please check your inbox for updates and the calendar. Tickets will be refunded.

Directions:
Head north on I-287. Follow I-287 north until exit 45: Boonton (Wooton St).  At the end of the exit ramp, go straight until the stop sign then make a left onto Wooton St.  Follow Wooton St. for a bit (big uphill) until you see the blinking red light which is a 4 way stop.  At that light, make a right onto Boonton Ave (Rt. 511).  Follow 511 for approx 2.7 miles and be mindful that there is a quick right and left turn to stay on Rt. 511 at some point. You’ll see the park on the left.  Then parking lot entrance is opposite of Mars Ct on the right side.
