Baseball and Softball Association to Kick Off 60th Season

Opening Day parade and festivities to take place April 21.

The Opening Day for the Montville Baseball Softball Association for the Montville community. But this year it will be even bigger as the association is celebrating its 60th anniversary on April 21.

"In addition to our standard opening day parade and ceremony, we have decided to bring back past presidents along with a few people who actually played in 1952," Scott Van Koppen, president of the association said. "We will introduce the past presidents during the ceremony and have the past players throw out the first pitches."

As in years past, vendors will have tables at the event, including a table for Relay for Life where visitors can purchase cupcakes. Several local dignitaries are expected to be in attendance at the event, including Committee members and board of education members.

The celebration will begin on April 21 with a parade of players from the baseball and softball teams starting at the at 9:30 a.m. leading to the municipal baseball field on River Road. The ceremony will immediately follow on the field.
