Zach Matari Advances on 'American Idol'

Zach Matari, a senior and the lead vocalist for Valhalla, advanced to Hollywood on Thursday night's episode of "American Idol."

He posted on Twitter:

Surprise!!! Check out who's on American Idol tonight!!

with a photo of him walking out of his audition with a "golden ticket."

In addition to Matari, Valhalla is comprised of four Montville grads: Greg Amato, lead guitar; his brother, bassist Dave Amato; Emre Ozyemisci on drums; and rhythm guitarist Fabricio Barreto.

The band that Matari writes most of their lyrics.

"We have one song, 'Made in Uruguay,' that's about, basically, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, live your dream, be what you want to be," Matari said.

Correction: The name of Valhalla's current drummer was incorrectly reported in the original version of this story.
