Success for Montville Educational Foundation at Benefit Show

State Farm awarded a $62,000 check to Pathways during Intermission.

Closing weekend of Veronica’s Room at the Barn Theatre went smoothly this past weekend and it included a special fundraiser showing at Montville Township Municipal Building last Thursday night.

Every year the Barn Theater donates proceeds from a show to a nonprofit as a fundraising event. This year the Montville Educational Foundation and Pathways For Exceptional Children teamed up to host a "Back to School Mixer."

“The profits raised by this event will help the MEF provide funding to teachers for creative ‘out-of-the-box thinking’ for innovative projects that might otherwise not have been available,” said Michael Abramson, President of the Montville Educational Foundation. “It will also support Pathways goal to help the community gain the knowledge and understanding of how to appropriately include and embrace children of all abilities and provide experiences for children with varying needs to grow, learn and discover their passions together.”

There was a cocktail reception to start off the night and there was also a special check presentation during intermission from State Farm.

“We have been awarded a $62,000 grant from the Youth Advisory Board with State Farm,” said Melinda Jennis, of Pathways for Exceptional Children, adding that the event was a “great success with over 100 people present” including “Jennifer Young and other professionals from State Farm … (and) Senator Joe Pennacchio.

She said the “grant will be used to increase the programs and equipment at the studio and to begin small businesses in photography, video production, graphic arts, disc jockey, rock band, and more.”
