Students Honored for First Marking Period Achievements

Students received recognition for achievements in academics, athletics and more.

Several Montville Township High School (MTHS) students were celebrated for their achievements in a variety of areas during the Nov. 20 board of education meeting.

MTHS Assistant Principal Timothy Gouraige congratuated the students, who were named ShopRite Stars, before he and Montville Township Board of Education President Dr. Karen Cortellino presented the students with certificates.

"We're proud of the students in achieving this recognition," he said.

Gouraige explained that students were selected through a three-phase process. First, they were nominated by their teachers and then nominations were passed on to department heads. Finally, the students' names were passed on to the administration.

One student each was chosen for the following areas:

  • Academics-Salena Wilson
  • Athletics-Bria Corham
  • The Arts-Justin Nebesnak
  • Leadership-Katrina Leung
  • Community Service-Kiriti Vattikonda
