School Report Card Shows Montville Administrators Make More Than State Average

Salaries above state average for 2009-10, teacher salaries below.

According to the State Department of Education New Jersey School Report Card released Tuesday, administrators in the Montville School District make more than $12,000 above the state median salary, while teachers in the district make almost $3,000 less than the state median.

The median salary for a Montville administrator was $130,774 in the 2009-10 school year, up from $121,650 in the 2008-09 school year. The average years of experience for district administrators is 18; the state average is 20.

Montville teachers made $56,225 on the median in 2009-2010, which is below the state median of $61,840 for the same year, but up from the district’s median salary of $51,565 in the 2008-09 school year. The average years of experience for Montville teachers is nine in 2009-10; the state average is 10.

According to a release from the Department of Education, the state’s annual report cards contain detailed statistical profiles of every school in the areas of school environment, student information, student performance indicators, staff information, and district and charter financial information.

“Transparency and accuracy in providing information about our schools is critical to parents’ ability to select the best school for their children’s needs,’’ Acting Commissioner Chris Cerf said in a statement. “We need to do a far better job of providing this service.”
