Lazar's Early Dismissal Time Change Approved

The next early dismissal day for Lazar is Wednesday, Nov. 6.

At the last Board of Education meeting, a change to the early dismissal schedule for Lazar was approved.

“As our community is aware, we’ve changed the starting times for our schools … this evening I’m asking the board to accept a new school hour schedule,” said Superintendent David Fried. “The only difference on the schedule is that the middle school, under the early dismissal schedule, would be dismissed 10 minutes later than was noted on the original early dismissal schedule.

"This is to allow time for the elementary schools to dismiss at 12:40 and then pick up 30 minutes later.”

The original early dismissal bell schedule for the middle school was was 8:30 - 1 p.m. and “there’s no way possible that the busses could have gone between two routes in only 20 minutes, so now we’re moving it to a 30 minute difference,” said Fried.

The next early dismissal day for Lazar is Wednesday, Nov. 6.

“I know we discussed this last year … about moving the middle school time earlier,” said Board Member John Morella.

Fried asked if Morella was asking to look into that possibility this school year for the following 2014-15 school year. Morella said yes.

“I think that’s something we can consider as the year goes on, but certainly that’s going to be another cost adjustment for us,” said Fried.
