False Fire Alarm Evacuates Cedar Hill School

District has devices inspected to determine the cause of the false alarm.

The Cedar Hill School was evacuated Friday morning when the fire alarm "unexpectedly sounded," Principal Michael Raj said.

Raj sent out a letter to inform parents that the fire and police department “arrived within minutes to assess the situation," which occurred at about 10:20 a.m.

Students waited for 15 minutes before the police and fire departments determined it was safe to return to class.

“I understand that while the circumstances could not be avoided, our main focus here at Cedar Hill School is the health and safety of our students and staff,” Raj said. "AC Daughtry, our alarm service provider, is expected to be at Cedar Hill (on Friday) to make the necessary repairs to our fire system.”

He added in his letter, that parents can reach out to him with any questions at 973-331-7100 ext. 1000
