New Boilers, Wireless Networks Among District's Summer Projects

There are a number of summer construction projects planned at the district's schools.

A partial roof replacement at William Mason Elementary School, new boilers at the high school and wireless networks for Hilldale, Woodmont and Lazar Middle School are among the district projects planned for this summer.

The district also is looking to have a new press box built at the high school football field, renovate the locker rooms, and replace some doors and locks at the high school, Cedar Hill and Valley View, district business administrator Jim Tevis said.

Interior work in several schools, meant to expand the guidance suite at the high school, add a classroom in the Lazar library media center, and turn an art room at Hilldale into two rooms, also is planned.

Tevis said the district is tackling a number of projects that were not getting done when there was a period of high administrative turnover.

"We're doing a whole bunch of tech initiatives as well," he said.

The cost of some of the projects: $200,000 for the roof, more than $200,00 is budgeted for the rewiring and wireless networks, and $1,015,000 for the boiler replacements.
