Montville High Snags Honors at Business Leadership Conference

Students shine at conference in Anaheim.

Three Montville Township High School students earned national recognition this summer at a business leadership conference in Anaheim, Calif.

Matthew Weiss, Corbin White and Jane Lu took fourth place in a network design competition and were honored at the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference.

The network design competition challenges teams to demonstrate their ability to evaluate and create network solutions in a modern business environment. Teams completed a test and gave a seven-minute presentation on their solutions to a problem.

“We are very proud of all of our finalists this year," Nancy Miller, science teacher and Montville's FBLA adviser, said in a news release. "Jane, Matt, and Corbin were our Network Design Team who placed fourth from among the more than 12,000 teams who competed in this event this year."

Montville's Parliamentary Procedures team—Ben Gaudiosi, Tiffany Eng, Rashmi Ketha and Shannon Sun—also qualified for the finals. Only the top two teams from each state competed at the national conference.

Sun also is in line to be New Jersey's next state parliamentarian after achieving first place in Introduction to Parliamentarian Procedures during regional, state, and national competitions. The parliamentarian serves as an expert of procedures and a contributor to all FBLA-PBL activity throughout the state.

"Overall, Montville had a fantastic year in FBLA," Miller said. "We look forward to continuing our students’ advancement in this very practical demonstration of their business abilities.”
