Field Use, Condition Concern Montville Parent

She brought the issues to the attention of the school board.

At the last Montville school board meeting, a parent brought up concerns she had with certain fields in the district. She asked about the field by Lazar Middle School.

“We need some area for spring sports,” she told the Board.

“We did a brief update about it at the last board meeting," said Board President Karen Cortellino. "We are putting together a committee that’s looking at this and we’re really discussing our options right now. We haven’t taken any steps."

Cortellino added that Athletic Director Paul “Pignatello along with recreation has provided the administration and the board with a complete list of the usage of the Lazar fields.”

The parent also asked about high school baseball field.

“I’m getting … a lot of complaints about the varsity baseball field on the way it looks … When you drive by it’s a real eyesore.”

James Tevis, the school business administrator who recently gave an update on summer construction projects, said that he “discussed this with the facilities manager earlier this week” and that the issue will be taken care of.
