Montville Township Historic Society presents Why Lincoln Fought the Civil War. Richard Schwartz, an author and historian, will speak about the topic. He is noted for giving some of the best presentations at the meetings of the North Jersey Civil War Round Table. He received the 2004 Mildred Barry Garvin Prize from the New Jersey Historical Commission for distinguished achievement in the teaching of African American history and has twice been named Whippany Park's teacher of the year.
