Business Acumen Propels Students to Nationals

Ten high school students were honored for their showings at the national Future Business Leaders of America competition in Orlando, Fla.

The at its Tuesday meeting at honored 10 high school students for their success at the national Future Business Leaders of America competition in Orlando, Fla., held over the summer.

Recognized were:

  • Dorothy Chen, business calculations, second place
  • Cindy Wei and Kaiwen Chen, business ethics, sixth place
  • Jude Tungul, Farrah Liu, Michael Byron, Devin Solanki and Jenny Yan, parliamentary procedure team, ninth place
  • Deep Dheri, Accounting I, and Manoj Muthukumaran, open event

The students outperformed other students at the regional and state levels before advancing to nationals, and then eight of the 10 students finished in the top 10 in the nation.

Principal Douglas Sanford, Board of Education President Dr. Karen Cortellino and FBLA advisor Mario Maullon acknowledged the accomplishment. Superintendent Dr. Paul Fried said the achievement helps distinguish the Montville school district.
