Budget Discussions to Begin Soon for Montville Schools

Budget presentations will most likely begin as early as January, said Business Administrator Jim Tevis.

After a glowing audit report at the Dec. 3 Montville school board meeting, the district has high standards to meet with its upcoming budget process, which "will begin fairly soon," said Paul Fried, superintendent

He added that "administrators are meeting with their staff" to discuss initiatives, staffing, the direction the district plans to proceed in and then “translate that into dollars and cents so that the board can react to those ideas.”

Fried said “conceptual conversations” may begin at the Dec. 16 board meeting.

“Budget presentations are going to start as early as January, maybe by the (Dec. 16) board meeting and continue until submission to the county superintendent,” said Business Administrator Jim Tevis. “Right now, it’s required by March 4 … It’s been alluded to that a statutory change may back that up by a few weeks.”
