300 William Mason Students Paint Mural

The mural's theme of Dreams and Goals brings to life music, science, sports, literature and civil service.

has a vibrant new mural in the front hallway that was painted by 300 students with an artist in residence.

Artist Caren Frost Olmsted oversaw the project. The school received a grant from Target for the program, which was arranged with the Arts Council of Morris.

Over four weeks, students had the opportunity to paint a section of the mural during art classes with the help of Olmsted and art teacher Andria Navarra.

In addition to the 300 students who participated, several William Mason parents volunteered their time to help with prep work, wash brushes and paint areas the children couldn't reach.

The mural's theme of Dreams and Goals brings to life music, science, sports, literature, civil service and academic achievement. The process of creating the mural was designed to emphasize teamwork, a sense of school spirit and pride, and a sense of community.
