Twp. Committee May Stir Up Appointments

Committee members to vote on appointments for various boards and commissions at reorganization meeting Jan. 3.

As the township committee plans to vote on who to appoint to several of Montville's boards and committees, some new faces may be among them when the committee makes the choices on Jan. 3.

The committee held a special meeting to discuss the appointments on Dec. 18. Montville Mayor Tim Braden said he would not hesitate to choose new candidates.

"In a number of instances tonight, I will advocate for stirring up the pot, if you will, and infusing some new blood on to our boards and commissions," he said.

Discussion on some boards seemed to go longer than others, particularly the Zoning Board of Adjustment, where one new candidate expressed interest in serving. The Environmental Commission seemed to garner a large amount of interest after all four commissioners had requested to be reappointed while seven new applicants also asked to be considered.

The township solicited candidates on the website and mentioned the openings at public meetings. Appointments will be finalized at the reorganization meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the township municipal building.
