Township Asks Residents to Conserve Water

Administrator notes significantly low rainfall.

Montville Township is asking residents to consider the amount of water they use as the area has seen only a small amount of rain this season.

"Just be mindful of how you use your water because we really are significantly down in terms of average rainfall at this point in the year," Township Administrator Victor  Canning said at the meeting on Tuesday.

On Friday, the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) asking residents to conserve water both indoors and outdoors.

"While recent rainfall has helped ease this year’s precipitation deficits somewhat, the effects of an unusually dry winter and spring are starting to be felt across the state," the press release said.

The DEP also provided some tips for residents to conserve water, including only running dishwashers and laundry machines when they are full, turning off the faucet when brushing teeth or shaving and only watering lawns in the early morning or early evening hours twice per week.
