So Many Meetings, So Little Time

Cold weather might be coming, basketball is going on all over the place.

Good morning and welcome to the inagural voyage of Montville Patch’s Five Things You Need To Know Today column, a daily rundown of what is hot and happening in Montville any day of the week. If you’ve got something happening that you think we should know about, drop me a line at nathana@patch.com. In the meantime, check out this buffet of meetings the township is offering today:

  1. You need to know about the Township Committee meeting: will likely continue at the municipal building Tuesday night. At its last meeting, the Committee suggested some possible cost-saving measures to , who recommended to the board that the township forgo the parade this year. The meeting starts at 8 p.m.
  2. You need to know the Board of Education is holding a special meeting: , the Board of Education is holding a special meeting open to the public at the media center in Montville Township High School Tuesday night. Look for discussion about how to handle making up the recent snow days, as the district has already used up the days it set aside. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.
  3. You need to know that high school basketball is happening all over the area: Both the boys and girls varsity teams from Montville High School are taking on Mountain Lakes. The girls are playing in town, while the boys travel to Mountain Lakes High School. Both games start at 7 p.m. Over at Trinity Christian, its girls varsity team travels to Parsippany for a game at 4 p.m.
  4. You need to know that it might snow again: The National Weather service is predicting a high of 34 degrees and a 40 percent chance of snow in Montville through Tuesday. Snow is most likely to fall before 10 a.m. or after 1 p.m., the service’s website says. Additionally, it’s supposed to be very windy, with gusts predicted to reach 34 mph. This is all part of a hazardous winter weather outlook in effect for the area through Friday.
  5. You need to know the Chamber of Commerce wants to feed you: Not that you need any more meetings to attend Tuesday, but the township’s Chamber of Commerce is holding an info lunch at the Columbia Inn at 12 noon. The event will include a hot buffet line and a guest speaker. Cost is $18 for members, $20 for non-members.
