Included in the resolutions on the consent agenda for the meeting is one that, if approved, would show the township committee's support for amendments to the Open Public Meetings and Public Records Act. on the state Senate-sponsored legislation which would expand what is classified as public information.

But according to the text of the resolution the committee will be voting on, if approved, while the committee "philosophically supports the main tenets" of the proposed amendments, they would ultimately oppose the amendments because they would create unfunded mandates. Voting in favor of the resolution would also indicate that the commitee feels the state legislature should be accountable under the amendments as well, which would require text messages and handwritten notes passed during meetings to be made public.
