Montville Postpones Trick-or-Treating

The town is requesting kids hold off going door-to-door seeking candy until Saturday due to safety concerns.

Black ice, downed utility wires, power outages and tree limbs that still have the potential to fall are among the reasons for Montville's decision to postpone trick-or-treating until Saturday, a township commiteeman said.

Township, police and school officials made the decision on Monday—Halloween. Several other surrounding towns also postponed the candy gathering festivities until Friday or Saturday due to safety concerns.

"We don't want to steal Halloween away from the kids," Committeeman Scott Gallopo said. "It's a safety precaution."
