Montville Earns Points to Meet NJDEP Requirements

So far the township has earned 13 points and 10 points are required by a municipality

Montville is a few points closer to being in compliance with the rules of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

To comply with the NJDEP Stormwater Management Rules, every municipality in the State needs to provide public education on stormwater issues to residents and the NJDEP has a list of education programs and activities. Each program/activity has a point value and each municipality must earn 10 points each year.

Montville Township engineer Mark Mantyla's Nov. 26 stormwater management training presentation got the township another three points, according to NorthJersey.com, and so far the township earned:

  • 2 points—displaying a poster on the issue
  • 3 points—sending out information in a tax bill flyer
  • 2 points—Litter Cleanup Project by the Recreation Department
  • 3 points—Earth Day and Annual Fall Cleanup
