There was been a 'steady trickle' of voters, one poll worker said.

Update 12:34 p.m.: We're hearing from some of the candidates that voter turnout has been light so far.

"It's a beautiful day. There's every reason for all our residents to come out and vote," said Township Committeewoman Deb Nielson, who's up for reelection.

She cast her vote around 8 a.m. at the . Turnout has been light, she said.

She said people might still be recovering from the October snow storm, or are happy with Montville's current government.

Democratic candidate Mike O'Brien said he was planning to vote around noon at l. (On an unrelated note, he said he happened to lose power for a few hours this morning, so some residents apparently are still having electric issues after the storm.)

Dan Grant said voter turnout was "very low," though he says voters should always be motivated to vote in local elections.

"Local government has greater impact on peoples lives than national government," he said. "There are a host of issues handled locally that you're not going to call the White House for."

He voted around 10 a.m. at the . On a separate note, he was concerned with the limited number of board workers who sign in voters and handle challenges. There are supposed to be four workers for each district—two Republicans and two Democrats—but the districts he saw were short workers, sometimes from both parties.

He thinks they'll be able to handle the voters Tuesday, but it could negatively affect the process in elections with greater turnout.

"It's important to the process," he said of having the proper number of board workers. "People have to have faith in the process."

Morris County Freeholder candidate and Montville Democratic Committee chair Truscha Quatrone said "voter turnout seems to be quite low."

She wasn't sure if Democrats would have challengers at polling locations all day due to the low turnout. Republicans didn't appear to have any challengers, she said.

She was planning to vote around 3 p.m. at the and said she was feeling good about her prospects of being elected to a Freeholder seat.
