Community Park Soccer Lights Get OK
Montville Soccer Association and township to split the cost.
Lights will be installed at the artificial turf soccer field and the town and the Montville Soccer Association will split the cost under a plan approved by the Township Committee this week.
The unanimously approved appropriating $230,000 for the installation of lights at its Tuesday meeting, with more than half that amount being reimbursed by the soccer association.
The town, which owns the field and will assume responsibility of the lights and project, will borrow its share of the cost. The soccer association is putting $125,000 toward the lights.

The lights are designed to focus light on the field to avoid light pollution. Township Committeewoman Deb Nielson verified that neighbors were notified of the plan and no letters protesting the plan were received by the town.
Mayor Jim Sandham said the committee was concerned with ensuring the plan would not have a detrimental effect on homes and roads.
