Committee Schedules Special Meeting on Hurricane

The impact and recovery from Hurricane Irene will be the subject of a meeting scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A special Montville Township Committee meeting on the impact and recovery from Hurricane Irene has been scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a notice on the township website.

The regular portion of the meeting has been pushed up a half hour to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate the special session.

Tuesday's meeting will be the first time the Township Committee meets since Hurricane Irene hit the area starting on Aug. 27, leading to downed trees and wires, flooded streets and homes, and .

Authorities in the Pine Brook section of the town around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night from the Boonton Reservoir, which United Water said never happened that day, though homes still saw record levels of flooding. The Pine Brook Fire Department, with the assistance of Towaco and Montville fire departments and township employees, the week after the storm.
