Currently a member of the Township Committee, Nielson, a former mayor, is running for her third consecutive three-year term on the governing body. She has lived in town for 22 years with her husband of 19 years. They have two children, ages 16 and 13.

Previous elected office sought or held: Began serving on the Township Committee in 2006. Mayor in 2008 and 2009.

Community involvement: Volunteer for water education program Every Drop Counts; Montville Women’s Club; Montville Mustang Association; reader and parishioner at Saint Pius X.

Biggest issues facing Township Committee: Finding a new administrator. Maintaining Montville Township's quality of life.

Nielson says her work on the Township Committee isn't complete. She says she wants to increase transparency of government operations, increase communication and dialogue with citizens and thoroughly examine all departments to ensure the town is running as efficiently as possible.
