According to an affidavit filed by Detective Dan Haber of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes Unit, the charges against Gonzalez are in response to alleged acts of sexual assault on a 13-to-16-year-old child occurring in East Hanover and Florham Park on various dates between Sept. 2009 and March 9, 2010.

TLC, which airs the Cake Boss TV show, describes Gonzalez on its site as "Buddy's left-hand man and his best and fastest decorator. He is married to Buddy's youngest sister, Lisa, who works the front counter. Buddy relies on Remy greatly to execute things according to his standards. Buddy trusts his opinion and decorating skills completely."

"We support Buddy and the Valastro family during this very difficult and challenging time," TLC said in a statement released to media. "The network respects the family's wish for as much privacy as possible, and as this doesn't involve us, we will not be commenting any further."

Adam Bourcier, a spokesman for Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop, the bakery at which the Cake Boss show takes place, said the matter is a "sensitive family issue, and the family is asking for privacy as they deal with this together."

Correction: Buddy Valastro is an East Hanover resident. A previous version of this story incorrectly identified him as a Montville resident.
